On the 8th March 2019, we are proud to be joining in with celebrations for International Women’s Day, honouring women’s achievements.
Last year, as part of this important day, we also commemorated 100 years of women’s suffrage. The Suffragettes movement to win women the right to vote was a hard-fought campaign and it was their actions that inspired International Women’s Day, the first of which officially took place in 1911. Across London and right here on the streets of Paddington, Suffragette demonstrations took place, demanding justice and equality. Read the women’s suffrage timeline and related articles via the British Library website. To honour the actions of the Suffragettes and as part of this year’s International Women’s Day, our team at Paddington Hotels have put together a selection of things for you to do in the local area, that celebrate inspiring women.

Whilst exploring Paddington you are likely to come across several of the areas inspiring public art installations, including Liz West’s sculpture, Colour Transfer, located along the underside of Paddington Central Westway Bridge.
